The Bitstrips app is hybrid mobile application for iOS and Android that allows you to create and customize your avatar and create comics with you and your friends. With millions of users, Bitstrips is one of the most popular, highly-rated, mobile apps on both iOS and Android worldwide.
I worked on a small team of developers to improve and overhaul the Bitstrips mobile application.
I was a key player in overhauling the current client-side mobile comic editor, replacing the sluggish Flash editor with a lighter-weight, high-performing HTML5 Canvas/JavaScript comic editor.
I also developed the photo comic feature, which allows users to take photos with their camera phones or upload photos from their camera rolls to include as the background to their custom photo comic.
The new comic editor is more interactive than the previous one, allowing users to drag and drop their avatar and chat bubbles around the canvas. It also features inline text editing for chat bubble text, and includes support for adding emojis to chat bubbles.
